Let's talk about selecting your location for Engagement Sessions
Every place is best when the light is right. Sometimes I ride with couples during wedding days and stop randomly in a place and make the best around the block. This allows my couples to have unique places in their pictures.
When brainstorming for selecting the place for your session, think about this:
- What you like the most, individually and together?
- How do you guys meet?
- Which is your favorite city in the world?
- Do you like sports? If yes, which one?
Believe it or not, answering these questions will give you an idea of a location, but if you are still wondering or need extra help, feel free to reach me. As your wedding photographer, I am a living library of locations, and we can match your ideas into meaningful ones.
In the case of this couple, they love quiet and scenic places. They wanted to be alone in empty streets and showcasing them starting a new path together as they were planning to move overseas after the wedding. There were board games the day they met, and somehow we introduced this in the images, but in a subtle way.
There are no limits on where to do an engagement session, and the best places are the most unusual ones. The good thing about doing a casual session that is not on your wedding day is we have the time and freedom to go to different places, be a tourist in our own city or country, and have fun exploring.
In the next post, we will be exploring clothing in-depth. Do you have any questions related to selecting a location?
Save this post for future reference if you are doing a photo session soon, and remember you find me now in Amsterdam and serving de Randstad.
Have a great day!
